CEB Turn-Over at Brgy. Datu Sundungan
Date Posted: March 10, 2005 (Friday)

Kidapawan City - MinLand officially turned over the newly constructed compressed earth block (CEB) multi-purpose building to local officials and residents of Brgy Datu Sundungan on December 8, 2005.

Barangay Captain Ramon Sundungan, on his speech expressed gratitude and appreciation to his fellow residents for their efforts and voluntary support to the project introduced by MinLand.

He added that he was amazed that they were able to construct a building by themselves.

He was also thankful for the assistance given by Municipality officials of President Roxas and to MinLand for being with them the entire duration of the project.

Kagawad Jose Lorilla Jr., representing Mayor Jaime Mahimpit of Pres. Roxas, also inspired community members. He compared the roles of parents in the construction of the building to community’s initiative in using available local resources.

Melvin Masamlok, a resident who volunteered in the construction gave an overview on how they were able to put up the building.

Raine Magtanggong, a resident, has also read the policy that they (community members & officials) have drafted and approved for the use of the multi-purpose building.

Recognition was also given to those who have participated in the construction.

Later in the program, Indigenous Peoples (IPs) presented traditional songs and dances and offered prayers showing how much they value their culture.

Municipal SPO2 Jean Cano also gave a lecture on violence against women and children to community residents for them to become aware of the existence of such a law and thereby helping community lessen if not eradicate violence.

LRC partner barangays from Ilustre, Bato-Bato, Lama-Lama and Kimahuring have also witnessed the special event in support to Barangay Datu Sundungan. (MinLand/srd)
