83 Farmers bring home Planting Materials and Tilapia Fingerlings from PPSM & BFAR Visits
Kidapawan City - Eighty-three (83) farmers from Barangays Palma Perez, New Esperanza and Dugong visited the Pagkain Para Sa Masa (PPSM) Program of the University of Southern Mindanao last August 4, 2005.
Farmers were very grateful for the oppurtunity of listening and interacting with PPSM Project Coordinator Dr. Edwin Hondrade who was very competent and vibrant in delivering upland farming information.
They also understood the concept and significance of "bahay-kubo" or backyard gardening and recieve planting materials (such as casava, vegetable seeds, sweet potato, rice seeds, corn seeds and more) for them to have demo farms in their respective areas and inspire neighbors to replicate.
That afternoon, they also visited the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) to learn important ideas on Tilapia Production and Management and availed sixty-one (61) bags full of 250 fingerlings.
Before going home, they dropped by at M'lang Municipal Hall to extend gratitude to Mayor Luigi Cuerpo for allowing the group to use two (2) dump trucks.
Another batch of farmers from Matalam and President Roxas Municipalities were also scheduled to visit PPSM & BFAR on August 10 and 11 respectively. (MinLand)
