celebrates Children’s Day
Kidapawan City - Barangay Datu Sundungan in Pres. Roxas celebrates its 3rd Children’s Day Celebration today. This is the 2nd celebration for the year. The celebration highlights the revival of traditional practices that were set aside and left unpracticed because of poverty and the protracted conflict in the area years back.
This celebration engages not only children in the community but also their parents and community leaders in parlor games and showcasing of talents. Showcasing of talents in singing, dancing and playing traditional musical instruments is the highlight of the celebration. Film showing that gathers the community and family together culminates the celebration.
The celebration aims to keep the ties of parents and children together and also strengthen that of the community residents and the leaders. Furthermore, the age-old tradition of their people is hoped to be inculcated in their hearts even as they struggle to alleviate from their poverty-stricken lives and continue building social cohesion among them.(MinLand/jmo)
