| Forum on bringing POs to the forefront
slated this September
Kidapawan City - Ten different People’s Organizations (POs) with inspiring successes in the search for peace and in reducing poverty will take center stage and given due recognition in the upcoming 3rd CSO Forum on Community Development Approaches in Mindanao on September 19-21, 2006 at The Marco Polo Davao.
Anchored on the theme “Championing and Celebrating Community Best Practices for Peace and Development,” the forum will serve as venue for POs to showcase their innovative and successful models of ideas, processes, sound practices, experiences that are truly people-driven and people initiated in pursuing peace, community development and in addressing human security.
Organizers of this year’s forum, The Invisible Link, an informal coalition of CSOs in Mindanao believes that PO initiatives should be recognized so that their successes will help boost people’s morale and help eliminate insecurities in pursuing people-led peace and development especially where the use of available local resources is emphasized since after all, POs are the real prime movers in any community development.
Some one hundred participants coming from various non-government organizations (NGOs), POs, academic institutions, government line agencies, decision makers, private sector, resource agencies and other key stakeholders are expected to participate in the 3-day forum. (MinLand/srd)
