| POs Gather to Share Community Initiatives and Best Practices

About 250 participants representing People's Organizations, Non Government Organizations, the academe, Government Organizations and Government Line Agencies in South Central Mindanao will converge at the Guadalupe Formation Center in Balindog, Kidapawan City on December 4 - 6, 2007 for the "2nd Festival on Community Initiatives and Best Practices towards Peace and Progress".
The festival, aiming to bring community initiatives and sound practices to the forefront of peace and development and to improve better relationships by building a culture of sharing and learning among stakeholders, will be featuring nine (9) PO presenters who will be showcasing good practices in Advocacy, Peace Building, Women, Environment, Community Infrastructure, Health, Economic and Livelihood, Youth and Children, and the like. The POs, coming from the Province of North Cotabato, Maguindanao, Bukidnon and Davao del Sur, will also be performing authentic cultural presentations that convey positive social values.
Dr. Danda N. Juanday, Executive Director of the Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) in Cotabato City will be the guest speaker to the said Festival. Dr. Juanday will share his insights and experiences on PO best practices and initiatives. He is also expected to synthesize the nine (9) presentations shared by the POs.
The festival is organized by Mindanao Land Foundation Inc., a 17-year old social development institution responding to the complex development problems of poor and vulnerable communities in Central Mindanao in collaboration with Cluster 1 of the Invisible Link, sponsored by Mindanao Trust Fund Reconstruction and Development Program (MTF-RDP).
