Festival Showcase Community Initiatives and Best Practices
Date Posted: November 21, 2007 (Wednesday)

Kidapawan City - Representatives from the different People's Organizations, Government Organizations, the academe and Non Government Organizations who have assisted or presently assisting communities on the ground that have demonstrated sound practices in Advocacy, Peace Building, Women, Environment, Community Infrastructure, Health, Economic and Livelihood, Youth and Children, and the like will converge at the Guadalupe Formation Center in Balindog, Kidapawan City on December 4 - 6, 2007 for a 2nd festival on Community Initiatives and Best Practices towards Peace and Development.

With the theme, "Ipamahagi ang Karanasan, Pagtibayin ang Natutunan, Ipagpatuloy ang Nasimulan", the festival will highlight ten (10) PO presenters from the Province of North Cotabato, Bukidnon, Maguindanao and Davao del Sur who will stage a 15-minute presentation to showcase their community initiatives and best practices. The POs will also be performing authentic cultural presentations that convey positive social values.

While a similar festival held last year was able bring community initiatives to the forefront of peace and development and to foster better relationships by building a culture of sharing and learning among stakeholders, this follow up festival will be a venue again for presenting and sharing the gains that have been learned by diverse communities and their partner CSOs in the replication or application of the sound practices they learned from each other.

The festival is organized by Mindanao Land Foundation Inc., a 17-year old social development institution responding to the complex development problems of poor and vulnerable communities in Central Mindanao in collaboration with Cluster 1 of the Invisible Link, sponsored by Mindanao Trust Fund Reconstruction and Development Program (MTF-RDP).
