| 3-Day Festival on Best Practices and Peace-building Opens Today

Two Hundred Fifty participants from the People's Organizations, Civil Society Organizations, Government Line Agencies, Funding Agencies, the Academe and media will converge for a 3-day festival on best practices and peace-building which opens today at the Guadalupe Formation Center in Balindog, Kidapawan City.
The festival aims to emphasize and recognize people's initiatives and best practices in pursuing development using available local resources. The value of people to people exchanging ideas, experiences, success stories and failed ones will be promoted. It also aims to emphasize the value of sharing, interaction and selfless giving.
Bearing the theme, "Ipamahagi ang karanasan, Pagtibayin ang Natutunan, Ipagpatuloy ang Nasimulan", the festival will feature 10 People's Organizations who will be showcasing their best practices on Peace Building, Youth & Children, Economic & Livelihood, Advocacy, Women, Environment, Community Infrastructure, Education and Health.
Among the POs who will present are the Damulog Alliance Tribal Organization (DATO), an Indigenous People's Organization in Damulog Bukidnon, G7 Organic Farmer's Multi-Purpose Cooperative of Takepan, Pikit, Cotabato Multi-Sectoral Leaders Council of Kidapawan City, Women Initiatives for Human Development Association (WIHDA) of Pikit, GiNaPaLaDTaKa in the seven (7) barangays if Pikit - Ginatilan, Nalapaan, Panicupan, Lagunde, Dalingawen, Takepan and Kalakakan, Tumbras Muslim Farmers and Fisher folks Association (TUMFFA) of Tumbras, Midsayap, Barangay Takepan Youth Association (BTYA) of Takepan, Pikit, Liguasan Marsh Basin Organic Farmer's Cooperative (LIMBOFCO) of Midsayap, Cotabato, and Alegria Diversified Organic Farmer's Association (ADOFA) of Alegria, Pres. Roxas.
Rufa C. Guiam, Director for Center for Peace and Development Studies of the Mindanao State University (MSU), General Santos City will be guest speaker to this year's festival. Guiam will give input on People-Centered Development Framework on Peace and Development: Some Lessons from Conflict-Affected Communities in Mindanao*. She is also expected to present updates on peace process.
The festival is organized by Mindanao Land Foundation Inc. and the Invisible Link - Cluster 1, an alliance of 10 Civil Society Organizations in South Central Mindanao and is sponsored by The World Bank Mindanao Trust Fund Reconstruction and Development Program (MTF-RDP). (MinLand)
