Move On Phils and MinLand turn over Audio-Video Equipment and Tapes to USM
Date Posed: October 22, 2008 (Wednesday)

Kidapawan City - A television set, one video player and 223 educational video tapes for kids were turned over by Move On Philippines International (MOP) through Mindanao Land Foundation (MinLand) to the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) Extension Services Center on Wednesday, October 22, 2008.

The video equipment and materials will be made available to children in far flung and conflict affected barangays through USM's mobile library. The donation will aid USM in implementing its Early Childhood Education, Basic Literacy and Functional Literacy Programs that serves almost 6,000 individuals in North Cotabato alone.

The materials were received by USM Extension Services Director Dr. Luz A.Taposok from Mr. EJ Matela, MinLand's Director for Post Conflict and Rural Services. MinLand staff who assisted in the turn over included Mr. Arvin C. Chua (Program Manager), Ms. Teresa N. Resturo (Finance
Officer), Mr. Alih S. Bato (Head of Educational Services), Mr. Sherwin R. Desierto (Information Officer), Ms. Ann A. Numos (Technical Services Officer) and Ms. Fely A. Singco (Consultant for Institutional Development).

Educational materials and tools are continually being gathered by MOP volunteers in the USA from individual and institutional donors with the intention of donating them to schools in remote and poverty stricken areas in the Philippines. The television set and the video player were donated by Mr. & Mrs. Neil & Gemma Lavarino who grew up in Davao City but are now residents of Jacksonville, Florida. The videocassettes were donated by San Jose Episcopal Day School also in Jacksonville, Florida, USA. Move On Philippines International (www.moveonphil.org), a charitable organization of Filipinos living overseas, was incorporated in the state of Florida as a nonprofit charitable organization.(MinLand)
